Topic Proposal:

The Topic Proposal Assignment allowed our class to explore topics in which we would later use for our Extended Inquiry Project. We made an initial reading, talked with peers, collaborated online, and recieved feedback in order to confirm our topic.

Feedback from Malcolm

I made a 43/50 on this assignment. Some valuable insight that my professor provided me with: "Jada, your topic is approved. It's interesting, timely and it matters. Topic proposal is meant to lay out the issues of debate neutrally, not to build on arguement. So, what are the major issues and who are stating what positions for which sides. That's what intro needs."

Reflection:

I had a general idea of what I wanted to do my topic on due to a class discussion in my LBST 2214: Health and Quality of Life course from last semester. I had been preparing to write this assignment in my day book due to looking at most of the assignments that we would complete in class beforehand. I had some knowledge about my topic, but there was still some things that I sought out to know; I addressed these things during my inquiry questions. I learned a great general overview of my topic. I knew I would use a lot of this information later for my EIP so I was satisfied. One major problem that I had during this assignment was after collecting my research, I already had a general stance and I incorporated that within this assignment. The assignment was not meant to be one-sided yet I knew so much that I basically had already chosen what I agreed with. Overall, I understood the assignment and attempted it in my best attempt by conducting a draft and going back to edit it several times.
